Marlo Kiyite, also known as Marlo Booqua, has been craving Fetishes for over 38 years. A member of the Pueblo of Zuni. Marlo lives now in Gallup, NM where she now calls home. At the age of 14, she learned silversmithing from her uncle, and at the age of 16 she learned beadwork from her grandmother & aunts. She eventually dabbled in pottery as a hobby, yet it is carving that has captured her heart and has become her preferred artistic expression.
“I take pleasure in the art of carving, the natural stones and simple style serve as a reminder that complexity is not always necessary in creation. I am proud to continue a tradition that has been passed down through generations, and it brings me joy to create art that reflects my cultural heritage.”- Marlo Kiyite
